Tax authority must refund GST when payment order final

Recently, the Allahabad High Court held that once a refund order has attained finality, the Revenue cannot avoid the clear effect of the same - including the liability to pay interest on account of the delay. The High Court also observed that the Revenue’s insistence that a refund application should have been filed in the online refund module of the GST portal and not in physical mode was invalid.
